AVIATION COMMITTEE
The Aviation Committee was formed in
1992 to provide a WPPA forum for discussing airport development and management
issues, and to provide technical support and policy guidance on
aviation-related legislative issues.

BUDGET COMMITTEE
The Budget Committee meets in August
each year to develop an Association budget for the following year. Its members are from the Executive Committee,
as well as representatives from the Port of Seattle and the Port of Tacoma.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEES (policy and technical)
The Environmental Committees promote
environmentally sound economic growth by providing a forum to review and
evaluate port environmental concerns.
Current concerns include Endangered Species Act issues, recent MTCA
reforms, habitat mitigation and SMA/GMA integration. The Committees support continued progress
toward preserving and enhancing the natural environment while promoting public
policies that balance the environmental, social and economic values of the
communities that ports serve.

LEGAL COMMITTEE
The Legal Committee reviews legal
issues affecting port districts. The
committee also oversees WPPA participation before the Washington State Court of

by the WPPA President at the Spring Meeting to propose a slate of candidates
for consideration by the Board of Trustees at that year’s WPPA Annual
Meeting. One member is appointed from
each congressional district. If two or
more congressional districts are in a single port district, they will be
represented by one member.

TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE COMMITTEE
Formed as a result of the original
Ports System Study in 1975, the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee
(formerly known as the Cooperative Development Committee) explores potential
areas for port cooperative efforts and serves as the steering committee for marine
cargo forecast updates.
