Time to mark your calendar and make your reservations. The annual WPPA SMALL PORTS SEMINAR is coming up and you won’t want to miss it. The 2019 Seminar is scheduled for October 24 - 25 at the Enzian Inn in Leavenworth.
This year’s seminar will officially run from 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24 to Noon on Friday, October 25. All rooms at the Enzian Inn have been reserved for our group, with no release date.
Please note that prior to the official start we will also be offering an optional Thursday morning seminar which is focused on building things at your port. This session, entitled “Public Works Workshop – Getting Those Everyday, Small Projects Done Efficiently, ”will cover topics important to us all, and I highly recommend you attend (NO ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION REQUIRED).
We’ll be talking about:
Public Works Processes: What are your options, and how to decide what process to use
Design/Bid/Build: the basics on getting through the DBB bid process and evaluation
Small Works Roster Process: Options, upkeep, and essential checklist
Limited Public Works Process: What is it, when can you use it, the up-sides, down-sides and an essential checklist.
I hope through guidance from public works professionals and review of what has been successful at some of our ports we can help you build a winning program and achieve your goals.

"Speed-NETWORKING" Opportunity: Thursday, October 24, 4:30 - 7:00 pm
On Thursday afternoon, the hotel will set up ten (10) tables in the same room as our reception (Continental Room). You will set up your display on this table and at the end of our general session on Thursday; we will have our attendees move to that room to meet with you.
Some of our ports are unsure of how to get a project going or who to go to for the help they need. This will be your chance to help guide them through this process and educate them on what your company can offer.
The “Speed Dating/Networking” portion of the meeting will start at 4:30 p.m. and run through the reception which begins at 5:30 p.m. and continues until 7:00 p.m.
You will be able to leave your display up during the reception and our experience from previous years is that members continue to visit your tables during that time.
We are required to breakdown and leave the Continental Room after 7:00 p.m.
This is a first-come, first-served offer and the tables are limited. For the first ten (10) associate members who contact us, we will reserve a table for you.
You will be charged $150 for a table and this will include one free registration. Any additional attendees from your firm will be charged the regular registration fee of $100 each.
