Meeting recap: Funding Washington’s vital transportation infrastructure with Senator Steve Hobbs and Senator Curtis King

The Washington Public Ports Association was pleased to welcome transportation champions Senators Steve Hobbs and Curtis King to a talk today about funding our state’s vital transportation infrastructure.

The most recent economic forecast for transportation revealed a steadily-declining revenue, which only deepens the gap between the money available for projects, and the growing list of transportation needs.

Washington’s population is growing, and the state requires investment into infrastructure in order to keep pace with population and economic demand. A strong future needs investment today.

In today’s conversation, we heard:

  • What transportation packages are before the legislature, and what funding mechanisms are being considered

  • How ports can help support transportation funding efforts

  • The possibility for a special session
