Required Public Records training- where to find it

Did you know that all local government elected officials in Washington are required to take training on the Public Records Act (PRA) and the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA)? Are you up to date on your requirements? Effective July 1, 2014, the Open Government Training Act (ESB 5964) requires many public officials, all appointed public disclosure officers (RCW 42.56.080) and state agency appointed records officers (RCW 40.14.040) to receive public records training.

The Municipal Research and Services Center, commonly known as MRSC, has an upcoming virtual workshop series aimed at helping meet these statutory requirements for records training.  The series runs on March 17, March 23, March 31, and April 6, 2021 and costs $140 for two sessions.

To learn more about this training or register, or to learn more about your requirements as an elected official or public records officer, you can visit MRSC’s virtual workshop webpage: http://mrsc.org/Home/Training/Upcoming-Webinars/PRA-Basics-and-More-Virtual-Workshop.aspx
