Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA)

The Washington State Microenterprise Association (WSMA) assists Washington’s smallest businesses with the essential business tools, resources and financing they need to innovate, grow and flourish within their communities. WSMA’s primary work, capacity building support for nonprofit Entrepreneur Support Organizations (ESOs), is done through grants, training, and technical assistance to ensure quality business tools and needed resources are accessible to every business in the state. These ESO partners specialize in providing business training, technical assistance and/or financing to companies with 5 or fewer employees in every industry sector. Many of the business owners include veterans, entrepreneurs with limited incomes, people with disabilities, rural businesses and those who have been historically marginalized. These ESO partners serve these communities so that they can earn more, build upon their work, expand their reach, and contribute to Washington State’s economy.  WSMA also works closely with policy makers, Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), public port districts, lenders, manufacturers, Associate Development Organization (ADOs), chambers of commerce, regional Tribes, experts in sustainability, workforce/economic development teams, and leaders around the country to grow the field of microenterprise development. WSMA seeks to build a path to prosperity for Washington's smallest businesses that is integrated, community driven and meaningful in order to strengthen our local economies.
